4 miles north west of Reading, signed from the A4074 (Caversham to Oxford road). Please note - if you are using satnav directions, be aware that people are often directed to either Tilehurst (the other side of the river) or via The Warren which is inaccessible to traffic.
By road
Mapledurham is best accessed by leaving the M4 at Junction 11 towards Caversham and then taking the A4074 towards Wallingford/Oxford. (Turn left over Caversham bridge onto this road).
Travel on this road for approximately 2 miles. As you leave the housing area you will see a golf course on the left and another one on the right beside the Pack Saddle pub. Turn left opposite the Pack Saddle towards Mapledurham Village.
At the old Cross roads (Trench Green) Turn left towards Mapledurham Village follow this road for 1 mile. Take great care on this road!
As you approach the village you will see a post box in the wall and a telephone box. Continue through the village until you get to the end of the road and you have arrived.
By boat
Groups who have booked a boat to accompany their private tour can board at Caversham. The boat leaves the Thameside promenade and your journey will take approximately 45 minutes . On arrival at Mapledurham the boat will moor at the landing stage in the mill pond where you will be met by your guide.
Public transport
Please note that there is no public transport to Mapledurham. The nearest rail station is Reading (approximately 5 miles away) but there is no connecting bus etc.
Mapledurham house grounds and watermill are not open to the public.
